Whisky & Fine Dine in the Smoker Lounge
A one of a kind culinary threesome. This is what happened on 29 November 2023, at the first "Whisky & Fine Dine" in cooperation between the Trafo Baden Congress Centre and the "Casa Colonial Bar & AVO Lounge" in Neuenhof, just outside Baden.
Trafo Culinary Director Martin Liefeith created the 8-course gourmet menu, while Mark Westmorland, brand ambassador of the Scottish distillery Wolfburn, explained the respective whiskies for each course. This unique experience was rounded off with some very sound cigar advice from lounge owner Stefan Bütikofer.
A select group of members of the international "Confrérie de la Chaîne des Rôtisseurs" also took part in this evening. The worldwide community of the "Chaîne" is characterised by brotherhood, friendship, camaraderie and a shared passion for the art of cooking. A voice from the "Chaîne" group:
"Happiness is the only thing that doubles when you share it ... thank you for letting me share this culinary and epicurean happiness with like-minded people!" Jean-Claude Schmocker, Bailli, Chaîne des Rôtisseurs Argovia.
Two more similar events are planned for 2024, once at the end of April and then again in November. Exact dates and information will follow soon.
Martin's Whisky Pub at the Swiss Whisky Festival
From 30 November to 2 December 2024, the Swiss Whisky Festival (formerly Whisky Boat) took place at Trafo Baden for the second time.
To coincide with the festival, Trafo Baden once again opened its pop-up restaurant "Martin's Whisky Pub", under the direction of Trafo's Culinary Director Martin Liefeith.
The menu included four highlights to choose from, an Irish coffee and an Ice Cream Trolley. A total of over 750 plates were sold over the three days of the festival. As last year, "The Highlander", our super sandwich with Homemade Pastrami on a Rustico Baguette and Truffle Mayonnaise, was the top seller, closely followed by Martin's Red Lion Spare Ribs with Whisky Butter Foam and Caramelised Celery and Orange Compote.
Conclusion: Pop-up gastronomy is cool, guests and kitchen team had a lot of fun with our concept.
The next edition of the Swiss Whisky Festival will take place from 14 - 16 November 2024, again at Trafo Baden.
